Beachcomber Vibes at the Campobello Sea Glass Festival

Get in Mermaid - we’re going beachcombing!

The minute my friend and mermaid-soul-sister Stephanie said: “Oh by the way, I’m planning this little sea glass festival on Campobello Island in September”—I had it booked in my calendar.

I mean, collecting sea glass has been a hobby of mine since I was a little girl, so getting to go to a REAL festival celebrating that love with fellow sea glass obsessed humans?

Well, gosh, that just sounds like the best day ever!

And I especially can’t wait to bring Sandy Toes Shop to the Beachcomber Bazaar happening on Saturday, September 14th and Sunday, September 15th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm! Mostly because I get to meet so many of you!

While I’m a busy mermaid behind the scenes, planning what items we’ll bring and getting ready to launch our NEWEST coastal apparel line just in time for the festival—I’m also getting my bag ready to island-hop!

Because I’m always on brand, here’s a look at what coastal clothing items I’ll be packing for our adventure!

I Washed Up Like This

Not just for those days when you wake up and simply can’t - I love pairing my I Washed Up Like This muscle tee with a pair of ripped denim jeans or my Lululemon On the Fly pants.

Whatever pants I wear, I always make sure they have deep pockets for stashing those extra special pieces of sea glass.

To keep my hair out of my eyes while looking for pieces, I’m rarely spotted without a scrunchie in my hair or on my wrist.

I’m currently loving my Puffin Scrunchie that I picked up at Quoddy Link Marine in St. Andrews.

Lastly, I love pairing either outfit with my Birkenstock Thong Sandals that go on any beach trip with me!

East Coast Mermaid

OBVIOUSLY I’ll be showing off the brand that started it all—East Coast Mermaid—while attending the sea glass festival. I have been living in my East Coast Mermaid muscle tee this summer and I will be pairing it with either some ripped jeans or my favourite pair of Mom Shorts, depending on the weather.

As the cooler weather rolls in, I’ve been loving the opportunity to wear my Blundstones again, so I’ll definitely be caught in these at the festival.

They’re so comfy for long days on my feet and offer support and protection for slightly more dangerous sea glass collecting, like at Head Harbour Lighthouse.

Coastal Essentials

While these are the outfits I have planned for our trip to Campobello, I’m very mindful that it is an island in the Bay of Fundy and you can never really predict the weather or where you’ll end up.

From beaches at low tide to setting sail to see whales—you may encounter a range of weather during your visit.

Here are a few coastal essentials that are a good idea to pack!

Sunglasses: Don’t let the sun blind you when looking for the perfect piece of sea glass. Pack a pair of sunglasses or two for your trip. I’m currently LOVING my new plant-based Zeal sunglasses from Off the Wall Eyewear Emporium here in Moncton, New Brunswick.

A Hat: Yours certainly doesn’t have to be a Captain’s hat, but make sure to bring a hat to keep your head from getting sunburnt while looking for sea glass!

Windbreaker: I never travel to my favourite islands without my Columbia raincoat. It’s super light, so I can throw it in my purse or backpack. It always comes in handy if the wind is off the water, if the weather changes, and to break the wind on ferry rides.
